Jesus says to his apostles “the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a grain of wheat. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life will lose it, but whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for all eternity.”

Here we have to remember that human beings on planet earth are both human and spiritual. We probably don’t understand the spiritual side all that well, but it is most certainly the best part of us. The tiny grain of wheat has a purpose which is to fall to the ground and germinate. It gives up its original existence and enters into a new life where it gives birth to a new plant of wheat which will multiply and produce a large amount of new seeds. The same is true for us. All of us are created with a purpose in God’s mind. We are born with various talents which are to be used for what God desires of us. Our human side will probably find all kinds of reasons why we don’t feel qualified or able to do what God asks for. Most times it’s something simple such as helping a friend. We must remember that the most precious side of us is our spiritual side. Do not let your human side which may only live less than 100 years make decisions for your spiritual side which will live forever and ever.

Thanks be to God
