Brothers and Sisters:

This weekend we celebrate Gaudete Sunday, the Third Week of Advent, or Joyful Sunday. Although Advent is a penitential season, we take the time now to reflect on all the gifts God has freely given us and that causes us great JOY!

The gifts of life, talents, health, children, nature, and of course Salvation; all these and many more are God’s gifts to us.

There is always much more to do during Advent and Christmas; shopping, decorating, baking, card writing, wrapping presents, cleaning and preparing for guests, traveling, etc. All this can accompany frustration, tiredness, or panic.

Today is a time to stop, smile at ourselves and see our silliness. All there is to do, doesn’t compare to the JOY we are called to, anticipating and celebrating God’s greatest gift, His Son, Jesus Christ!

Even our ministry must be Joyful! Give of ourselves, not counting the cost of our time or treasure, but Joyfully knowing that the poor we serve is Christ Himself! Give with a smile. Your Christmas will be gratefully Joyful and your heart too will SMILE!
