Twenty First Sunday In Ordinary Time

J. M.J.

My friends, in today's Gospel we hear about how Our Lord gave to St. Peter the role of being the first Popе, after hearing him be the first and foremost spokesman for his brother Apostles in professing their foundational faith: "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." In different places in the Scriptures, the Lord is described as "the Rock of Ages." Christ transfers this, his own title to St. Peter, as a pure gift of grace. He entrusts to Peter the role of "binding and loosing," the role of helping people to experience God's pardon and of being the arbiter of questions disputed in the Church. In so doing, Jesus gave this same role to all of Peter's successors as Pope, right down to our present Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. The Holy Father appoints the Bishops in union with him to help him in the governance of each local Church. May we remember in our prayers this week Our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV and our bishop, Douglas Lucia! May we thank the Lord for them and for their leadership of our Church.

SUMMERTIME While it is vacation time for a lot of folks, and I hope you all enjoy your vacation time with family and friends, it's important to remember that our bills at our parish communities do not go on vacation, and that the work of the Regnum Christi, the Kingdom of Christ, continues in our parishes. I thank all of you for the support you give to our parish communities, and ask that if you are not currently supporting the work of our parish that you please do so. Thank you again! Remember, God will bless us a hundred-fold for our goodness and generosity.

NAZARETH FARM Next weekend, August 29th and 30th, we are pleased to welcome Ashley Bound, who will be speaking at all Masses about the work of Nazareth Farm, which helps to serve God's poor in West Virginia. May we be generous in our support of this amazing work of the Gospel and work of love. I hope that you are all enjoying these last days of summer.

Know that I remember you all in my prayers every day and please remember me in your prayers!

May God bless us and Mary keep us always in his love!

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!

Peace,

Fr Mal
