In today’s second reading we are given St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians which describes to us the importance of Love. We all know from Jesus’ teachings the two most important commandments. Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. Thou shall love your neighbor as yourself. God who created us in love knows that in order to be happy, we need to be loved not only by God but by our fellow human beings as well. We thrive on love. We see in nature some examples of what animal and insect communities need to do in order to survive. Bees , wasps, and others need large amounts of sugar in order to get enough energy to be able to fly and seek more sources of sugar and then bring back the energy food to their community so that they can prosper and be happy.

We human beings are like that in some respect. LOVE is our energy food. We all need to be loved and we can get that in abundance from God just by asking for it, praying for it and allowing Him to show us the way. However, some have difficulty in seeing how much God loves them and they are missing out on true happiness. Those who find God’s love find they get more energy and happiness which compels them to seek more love and share this with others, thus nourishing the community with love. This sharing of love which is a love of compassion and caring with all their friends and neighbors builds upon itself and the community thrives in happiness. Praise the Lord. Take a minute to read again the second reading from St Paul for the love that we seek and need and maybe add it to our daily prayer. ( 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13)

Thanks be to God
