From Our Pastor:
The age-old adage, “it is more blessed to give than to receive,” is the central truth of our Scripture lesson in our Weekend Liturgy.
The woman in the book of Kings provides for Elijah and her generosity is holy. The woman in the Temple gave a small portion of what she needed. Not of her excess wealth. And Jesus, the Son of God, taking on our nature for our salvation, came not as Ruler and Lord, but came as one of the poor among us. He chose poverty!
The blessedness of not being enslaved to material things, but willing to share of what we have, not only our “extra”, but of our substance, is the truth we must embrace because it makes us CHRISTLIKE! That is our calling and our destiny for sainthood!
May God bless us and may Mary keep us always in His love!
