From Our Pastor – January 02, 2022

Brothers and sisters, how appropriate that in the midst of the Octave of Christmas, the whole Church interjects the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God! This truth is announced in the prophecies of the Old Testament, proclaimed in the Gospels of the New Testament, defined throughout history by several Councils of the church, and beloved always by the faithful.

More importantly, we know her Son, Jesus Christ, and hopefully are in personal relationships with Him. We know He is God-made-man, that Mary is his mother; thus, she is the Mother of God, Mother of the Church (the Body of Christ), and our Mother, given to us from Christ Himself, from the Cross!

No wonder the church celebrates her in the midst of Christmas; she’s like the star on top of our Christmas trees. After all, we all need a loving powerful mother, and we certainly have one in Mary, the Mother of God!
