In this weekendโ€™s Readings from Sacred Scripture, we hear about the sad effects of sin in the world. In the First Reading from the Book of Genesis, we see that sin separates humanity from God. Adam and Eve freely chose to ignore what God had asked them to do and they had to face the consequences for their actions which was death and separation from God. The Good News is that Jesus Christ, by His death on the cross, has reestablished our relationship with God and has opened for us the gates of heaven. Jesus shows us that we do not have to fall into the trap of sin, but can actually do Godโ€™s will, Just as Mary did. As we begin this period of Ordinary time in the Church year, let us recommit ourselves to acting on Godโ€™s will in our lives and daily listening to His voice.

Last week I wired $50,278 from St. Stephen-St. Patrick Parish and $9,255 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission to the Victimโ€™s Trust Fund for the Diocese of Syracuse. The Diocese is hopeful to have the case settled in the near future so that we can continue the healing process from this terrible chapter in the history of our diocese. Please keep the victims of abuse in your prayers.

This weekend we will honor our graduates at our 8:30 Mass. This promises to be a special Liturgy and it is important for us to celebrate the achievements of our young people as they begin the next chapter of their lives. Let us keep our Young Graduates in prayer as they celebrate this milestone in their lives.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
