It is hard to believe that Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of our Lenten journey. We begin our journey by signing ourselves with ashes reminding ourselves that โ€œwe are dust and to dust we shall return.โ€ We remember the brevity of our lives and the need that we have to return to our God. Ash Wednesday is a reminder to all of us that we need to examine our lives in the light of Godโ€™s unconditional love for us. We are called to remove from our lives those things that keep us from responding more fully to Godโ€™s love. We will have Mass at St. Stephenโ€™s at 6:00 PM on Wednesday and will have a service distributing ashes at St. Patrickโ€™s at 7:00 PM. On Ash Wednesday the Church asks all Catholics ages 18-60 to abstain from meat and to fast on this important day. The Church also asks that all Catholics to abstain from meat on all Fridays of Lent. We will have Stations of the Cross and Soup suppers on Fridays of Lent. We will have a soup supper this Friday at St. Stephenโ€™s at 5:30 PM and Stations will begin at 6:00 PM. This is an excellent opportunity for us to reflect upon Godโ€™s great love for us and to share in a light Lenten meal. Make your plans now to attend Soup and Stations every Friday evening. It is my hope that our Lenten journey will bring all of us to a greater appreciation to Godโ€™s great love for us!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
