Pastorโ€™s Column – February 5, 2023

This past Monday evening I had the opportunity to have dinner with our Confirmation students at the Parish Rectory. It was a great time. I was amazed at the enthusiasm and honesty that was displayed by our young people. It was great to be able to hear about their experiences of the Confirmation process and to see how generous they are in sharing their gifts with our parish community. It was even great to challenge them to consider a life of service to the Church as Religious Sisters and Brothers or as priests. I am looking forward to being with them as they continue their journey to Confirmation next month. We truly are blessed to have them as a part of our parish family. A big THANK YOU to Sherry Dee, Dan Burke, and Cris Broderick for helping to make the evening such a great success.

This weekendโ€™s Gospel speaks to us about being light for the world. As we continue to journey through the darkness of winter, we become more aware of the need for light in our lives. We depend upon light to help us through this dark and dreary season of winter. Just as the light helps us to journey through these dark days of winter, so the Lord uses His disciples to provide light to a dark world. We all are called to bring the light of Godโ€™s love to a world that is sometimes dark and cold. Our little acts of love, mercy and compassion help others to overcome the challenges of our world. Let us ask our Lord to help us this week to bring the light of His love into our world. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
