In this weekendโs Gospel, we hear the familiar words of our Lord Jesus telling the Pharisees and us to โrepay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.โ I think that we are very good at repaying to Caesar, or our Government, what belongs to Caesar. I wonder if we are just as good as repaying to God what belongs to God. I know that we all begrudgingly pay our taxes by April 15 every year. We pay the sales tax at the grocery stores and at the gas pump. We are good at doing these things and we often do them as a part of our lives without thinking. However, I think we have to ask ourselves the question of how we are repaying God for all that He does in our lives. How much of my time, talent, and treasure do I give back to God or share with His people? Our God is the giver of all good gifts and all that we have comes from God. He has given us these gifts to be shared with others and the Church. How much of our gifts do we give back to God in our lives? When was the last time I examined what I contributed to the weekly collection basket? Our God is a generous God and invites each of us to be generous with others in sharing His many gifts in our lives.
Next weekend, Bishop Lucia will be celebrating all three Masses in our parish. Please welcome him warmly as he comes among us to celebrate the Eucharist. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
