I was informed last week that Mary Macauley, the mother of Fr. Thomas passed away in Africa. We send our prayerful support to Fr. Thomas and his family during this difficult time. Fr. Thomas will be leaving this week to go to Africa to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial and to spend some time with his family. I would like to ask everyone to keep Fr. Thomas in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Our Parish Picnic is coming up quickly. On September 10, we will have our Parish Picnic at Dorchester Park. We will begin the day with Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Patrickโ€™s Church followed by the picnic. The 11:00 AM Mass at St. Patrickโ€™s will be the only mass in our parish that weekend. Make your plans now to attend this fun event.

In the First Reading this weekend from the Book of Kings, Elijah is told to prepare himself to meet the Lord. Elijah then experiences a great wind, a great earthquake and then a fire. God was not present in these great events. It was only in the quiet, gentle breeze that Elijah recognized Godโ€™s presence. This teaches us the lesson that God comes to us in the silence and stillness of our lives. May we take some time in quiet to allow ourselves to experience His gentle presence in our lives.

This Tuesday is the Feast of the Assumption and a Holy Day of Obligation. We will have Mass in our parish on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in St. Stephenโ€™s Church in Marathon for this special day. Make your plans now to celebrate this special day.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
