25th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B – September 22, 2024

Dear Parishioners,

Grace and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you and your family!

The Gospel for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B (Mark 9:30-37) tells of the apostles arguing about who is the greatest. Jesus teaches them that true greatness comes from being humble and serving others. He used a child to illustrate that we must welcome and care for those who are seen as least important. This passage shows that comparing ourselves to others leads to jealousy and ambition. Instead, we should appreciate our own unique gifts and use them to serve God, others and glorify God. Humility helps us value ourselves and others without competition.

Prayer

Dear Lord, grant us true wisdom to seek your will above our own. Help us to serve others with humility and love. Guide us to live in peace… Amen.
