Dear Friends in Christ,

A warm and gracious welcome to you and all members of our church family! What would our churches look like if we remembered that our congregations preach far more than half the homily? A scripture scholar, William Barclay remarked: “In an atmosphere of faith and expectation the poorest effort can catch fire. In an atmosphere of critical coldness or bland indifference, the most spirit-packed utterance can fall lifeless to the earth.”

When people come together to worship God, they will worship God. If people come together to refuse to understand, they will misunderstand. If people come together to see no other point of view but their own, they will see no other point of view. But if people have come together, seeking to love and serve God and each other, even those who are different can come together as disciples of Christ, glorifying God. There is a tremendous responsibility laid on us, in the sense that we can either help and promote or hinder the work of God. May we continue to open our hearts and minds to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
