Pastor’s Column - December 4, 2022
This weekend’s Readings from Sacred Scripture speak to us about the role that repentance has in our Advent journey. We all are called to recognize those areas of our lives that are in need of God’s mercy and forgiveness. Simply put, Jesus took flesh not because we deserved to have a Savior, but took flesh because we all are in need of a Savior in our lives. We all have areas of our lives that are not all together and our God comes to heal our brokenness and wounds.
During this Advent Season, we are invited to experience God’s great mercy and forgiveness. We will do this together as a parish community on Monday, December 12 at St. Patrick’s Church at 6:30 PM. Our parish will have a Penance Service and many local priests will be there to celebrate God’s mercy and forgiveness with us. It is my prayer that we all take advantage of this opportunity to meet our God in this very special way. Make your plans now to attend this wonderful service.
I would like to congratulate Joyce Van De Weert as she receives the Immaculata Award from Bishop Lucia this afternoon at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. Joyce has been an active member of our parish family for many years and is much deserving of this award. Her ministry in the RCIA Program has prepared many people to encounter Jesus through His Church. Congratulations Joyce on this special day!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
