Cortland County Area Agency on Aging will be hosting “Focus Groups” throughout the County during July & August. They are interested to learn what each community is doing to assist their aging neighbors and caregivers to promote “Aging in Place.” The US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention defines aging in place as “the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently and comfortably regardless of age, income or ability level. They would like to learn the best practices that are being used in our community to assist older people to remain in their community while supporting their caregivers and what the gaps and barriers in services and supports that are encountered. CCAA will use the information obtained to create a 4 year plan, developing new and innovative programs and services specially designed to each community’s unique needs. If you are the right person to help answer and relay these issues and are interested in giving an hour of your time, please consider attending at either: Monday, August 5th, 5:00pm at Cincinnatus School cafeteria OR Tuesday, August 6th, 1:30pm at the Willet Senior Center. Contact: Cindy Stout, Aging Services Coordinator, 753-5060 or cstout@cortland-co.org.
