Sunday, June 30th, we welcome and thank Reverend Michael Oluka, a Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Tororo in Uganda, East Africa, and will speak on behalf of his mission appeal. The Archdiocese of Tororo, found in the Eastern part of Uganda has about 4 million people, of whom a little less than half are Catholics. They have 47 parishes, each of which has 20 mission churches on average, served by 130 priests. Therefore, each priest serves about 10,000 Catholics, and visits each village for Mass and the sacraments every couple of months. They have far more needs than local income is able to support. That is why they are extremely grateful that our diocese and parish invite them to make this appeal to us.
They are grateful to have us as their brothers and sisters in Christ and in mission.
How can we help them? What exactly does our donation do for their mission?
See some examples on the more detailed flyers at the entrances of our churches.
Please take note that since this mission appeal is today, we will take the Diocesan collection for Peterβs Pence on July 21st instead.
