In this weekendโs Readings from Sacred Scripture, we are given the theme of call. Samuel, in the first reading was called by God. Andrew and Peter were called by Jesus in todayโs Gospel. We each are called by our God. We were first called on the day of our baptism. We were called to be โchildren of Godโ and to be disciples of our Lord Jesus. We are called to live our lives in relationship with God and His Church. Each of us is called to be a bearer of the Good News of Godโs love to a dark and hurting world. Let us take some time this week to reflect upon the call of God in our lives and to respond to it, by living faith-filled lives.
This Monday we celebrate the Federal Holiday of the Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is a time for us to reflect upon his life and to renew our commitment to racial equality in the world. Let us take some time to recommit ourselves to working for a world where all people are respected and treated as equals. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
