Pastor’s Column – January 22, 2023

In this weekend’s Gospel, we see Jesus announcing the nearness of the Kingdom of God and that we need to repent. We all have areas in our lives that need to change and areas in which we can do better. Later in the Gospel, we see Jesus calling His first disciples. They immediately abandon their nets and follow Jesus. This is an excellent example for us. It challenges us to look at our own responses to the call of Jesus in our lives. How important is the call of Jesus to you? Is the relationship that you share with Jesus, through prayer, the most important relationship in your life? Are there things that you can change to make more room for Jesus in your life?

I would like to welcome Fr. Lester Smith to our parish community this weekend. It is always great to welcome back those who have served our parish family so faithfully. I have to admit that January has been a busy month for me as I have been filling in for vacationing and sick priests in our area. We are blessed to have Fr. Thomas, Deacon Tony, and Fr. Smith who have helped to serve our parish during this time. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
