𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧 – 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑

Last week’s Hope Appeal Video was received extremely well in our parish. It was great to see the Newman House Ministry at Binghamton University and the great work done there focused on in the video. There are so many ministries that are supported by the Hope Appeal and they truly make Jesus Christ present in the lives that these ministries touch. I would like to encourage everyone to please be generous in supporting this year’s Diocesan Hope Appeal.

This weekend we begin the Faith Formation Classes in our parish. I would like to thank all members of our parish who serve as Catechists for our young people. The time and effort that you put into your ministry is evident and it is that which makes our program so special. I would like to thank all parents who make the sacrifice to ensure that our young people make it to Faith Formation classes AND MASS every week. This is the best formula for us to pass on our faith to the next generation of disciples in our parish. I would especially like to thank Sherry Dee and Jackie Wright, the Faith Formation Coordinators in our parish for all the hard work, effort and love they put into this important ministry. Let’s all continue to pray for our young people as they begin another year of Faith Formation.

This weekend’s Readings from Sacred Scripture speak to us about the importance of forgiveness in our lives. Our First Reading from the Book of Sirach reminds us that “wrath and anger are a terrible thing.” How many of us journey through life angry with someone? How many of us journey through life just waiting for that chance to get back at someone who has hurt us? It is sad to see so many people in our nation angry at people who might have different political views than they do. There is so much anger in our world today. We need to hear Jesus’ message of love and forgiveness in our lives. Let us take some time this week to examine our lives and our hearts to see if there is someone who needs our forgiveness in their lives.
